From the desk of Dr. Sailon

As a medical student, cleft lip and palate surgery is what drew my initial attention to plastic surgery. The combination of artistic sensibility with technical prowess required to create an excellent result appealed to me greatly. On a more profound level, restoring harmony to a child’s face, an organ where form and function are aligned, provided deep satisfaction.

Upon completing my plastic surgery training, I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to work as a cleft and craniofacial fellow with Operation Smile under the tutelage of Dr. Magee, a world-renowned surgeon. During this year, I traveled extensively, operating with surgeons from around the world on those less fortunate. Beyond a tremendous growth in technical ability and judgment, I also found this charitable work had a deep, personal impact on me.

Taking care of another’s child is one of life’s greatest privileges and I plan to continue my involvement with this incredible organization. I encourage you to contact me with any questions or thoughts.
